Dumfries and Galloway is steeped in history. Step back in time and visit the remains of the many castles and abbeys that the area has to offer. Thanks to the mild climate and the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, the area has some spectacular gardens to visit.

The arts scene is this area is quite diverse; home to figures like Carlyle, Burns, J.M.Barrie and the Glasgow Boys. Over 400 artists, craft makers, writers and poets find their inspiration here.

The Spring Fling open studio event and the Dumfries and Galloway arts festival takes place at the end of May each year.

Mountain Biking:
Award winning trails at the 7 stanes mountain biking centres. Kirroughtree, Glentrool, The Forest of Ae and Mabie, offer trails suitable for various abilities.

Golf:
Dumfries and Galloway has 30 great golf courses that welcome visitors all year round.

Cycling and Walking:
The Raiders Road track through the Galloway Forest Park offers gentle routes with time to observe the wildlife.

If you are really patient, you may see the secretive otters and the Monarch of the Glen - The Red Deer!

Water Sports:
Just a short drive away is Loch Ken, where you can hire boats, learn to windsurf or water ski, do a spot of fishing or simply relax.
